Born and raised in Hong Kong, Mara Measor is half-British and half-Chinese but you wouldn't guess it when you hear her – that is, until she breaks out her Cantonese. After high-school she spent a year working and singing in Ethiopia and now performs as an Indie Singer-Songwriter in NYC. Think Ingrid Michaelson meets Norah Jones and has a conversation about Regina Spektor, in Chinatown.
Mara graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with an acting degree. She has performed with her guitar, ukulele and keyboard at venues across NYC including Joe’s Pub, the Bitter End, Caffe Vivaldi, Path Café, The Harlem New Music and Arts Series, The Tea Lounge and Desmonds' Tavern. Her music made the Best of July list on indiemusicreviewer.com and she was featured as “One to Watch” in Audrey Magazine. She was the guest performer at the Annual Asian Heritage Celebration held by Senator Martin Golden in Brooklyn. In 2012, she recorded a live performance of her bilingual song "I want to Love You" at a TV station in Hong Kong (RTHK), which was shortly selected as a Best of the Year Performance. She was the winner of ABC Voice 2013 at Rutger’s University, and performed as a guest artist at Vassar College. She was most recently the opening performer at the Awards Ceremony for the Asian American Journalist Association in Los Angeles. Mara has also starred in numerous independent films and acted alongside Simon Russel Beale in the Atlantic Theater Company's Off-Broadway production of Bluebird.
